March Production Update (with pictures!)
about 4 years ago – Sun, Mar 08, 2020 at 11:53:59 PM

Hello everyone!

Happy to report that Fugue is now in production and coming together. Here is a message from the manufacturer:

The typesetting is done, the cards and punchboard are printed, the boxes are not yet. All of them have not been cut and processed yet. They are arranging time. Everything is running normally, and the expected completion time will be about the same. Don't worry! :D

They also sent a couple pictures:

Anyone have any idea what game the cards on the left are from?

We really appreciate your patience as we've gotten these issues sorted out!

Manufacturing is on schedule to conclude in April. We'll post another update when we hear more.

Production update
about 4 years ago – Thu, Feb 20, 2020 at 02:26:23 AM

Hello everyone,

Just a quick word about the production situation. Last update we let you know that there were delays due to the coronavirus. Unfortunately, this is causing additional delays in production. According to our manufacturer, the date that employees can return to work has been pushed back even further to March 2nd. We are told that production of Fugue will begin shortly after that and should be finished sometime in April. This will keep us on schedule with the conservative fulfillment date we set for the campaign (obviously, we were hoping to be finished before this). Of course, all of this could change if the situation there becomes worse, and we have no real way of knowing if more delays will come.

We are looking into alternatives on the off chance that our partnership with this manufacturer is unable to continue for these reasons. If something like that happens, production could be delayed further. Hopefully it won't come to that, but we are preparing for that outcome just in case. We wish our friends in China the best and hope things can return to normal for them soon.

One very small bit of good news is that we were able to increase the size of the drawbag so that it will now easily hold the updated rulebook along with the rest of the components.

We'll make another update next month.

Thank you for your continued patience.

Sincerely,

Adam

Coronavirus and potential delays
about 4 years ago – Sat, Feb 08, 2020 at 07:40:38 PM

We planned to do an update on the 10th when we (hopefully) would have had more information. However, I'll go ahead and share what we know.

Like many game companies, we are manufacturing in China. As many of you know, the deadly coronavirus is ravaging that country. Production for Fugue was supposed to begin after the Chinese national holiday which would have been Feb 1st. However, the Chinese government has extended the holiday until the 10th due to the virus.

Our manufacturer, whom we have worked with in the past and had no issues with, has not responded to our emails regarding this situation. Since everything is basically shutdown for the holiday, I don't expect them to respond until at least the 10th.

We have heard many stories about the conditions in China from people involved in the tabletop games industry who are on the ground there. They are saying to expect production delays. We won't have any concrete information until after we hear back from our manufacturer, however, it is likely that many people will not be going back to work on the 10th. We have heard that 2-3 month production delays are possible.

We have already paid half of the production bill to the manufacturer (with the other half due once production was finished). Best case scenario, we will hear back from our manufacturer next week, and all will be well. Beyond that, we'll look into what steps we can take next.

No one expected this to happen and our hearts are with the Chinese people.

If you have any questions, let us know, but we won't have much additional information until we hear back from the manufacturers. Normally, I'm available to quickly answer questions and comments on these updates, however, I may not have time today. I'll get to them as soon as I can.

We will post another update as soon as we know more.

Thank you for your patience.

Sincerely,

Adam

Just wanted to share this picture I received from the manufacturer! This is the production review copy and it's on its way.

Too bad it's not showing the tiles, but we'll see them soon enough!
